What we do
At Western Health, psychologists work across many of our clinical services including within our:
- specialist medical and surgical inpatient wards and outpatient clinics
- inpatient and community mental health services
- drug health services
- community health at home and rehabilitation programs
- paediatric outpatient services.
Our psychologists work with people experiencing a wide range of emotional, mental, cognitive (thinking) and behavioural concerns. We provide assessment, treatment and support for patients in both hospital (inpatient) and clinic-based (outpatient) settings.
Some of the conditions our team helps assess and manage include:
- anxiety, depression or emotional distress
- difficulties with memory, attention or concentration
- issues with anger or frustration
- symptoms of trauma, such as panic attacks, flashbacks, nightmares and hopelessness
- coping with pain
- struggling with a diagnosis
- difficulties deciding on treatment or staying on treatment
- palliative care and end-of-life decisions.
Referrals
Please note: Only internal referrals are accepted for all psychology services at Western Health. Please speak to any of your treating medical or health professionals at Western Health and ask for a referral.
After you have been referred, one of our psychologists will then contact you to make an appointment.
