Mentoring

Western Health offers it's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders employees support through mentoring, both formal and informal. Our formal mentoring program, known as Aboriginal Recruitment and Mentoring Program (ARaMP), provides flexible support to mentees by having their own 'buddy'. Mentors support new and existing Aboriginal employees with guidance, advice and friendship. In addition, our mentors provide guidance and assistance to recruitment and selection panels where an Aboriginal applicant is identified.

The mentoring relationship provides various benefits and a mutual learning opportunity to both the mentee and mentor.  Both mentee and mentor have the opportunity to attend training come together and meet others in similar roles.

What's in it for the mentee?

The mentee will have the opportunity to experience mentoring by exploring their strengths, future career pathway and development opportunities. Mentees will build networks across the organisation and learn from the experience, knowledge and expertise of others in a friendly and supportive way.

What's in it for the mentor?

The mentor will have the opportunity to develop their mentoring skills and a greater sense of personal and professional satisfaction. ARaMP will allow mentors to gain a greater understanding of Aboriginal culture, enhance their ability to advocate for aboriginal employment opportunities and encourage better practices relating to recruitment and selection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees at Western Health.

For more information about ARaMP, please contact Tanya Druce at Tanya.Druce@wh.org.au  or Joanne Darmanin at joanne.darmanin@wh.org.au
