Holiday cheer fills the halls of Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital

18 Dec 2024

Holiday cheer filled the halls of Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital this week as Directors from our generous partner Symcare joined Western Health Executives to distribute Christmas gifts to children on the ward and in our clinics.

This heartwarming tradition, now in its third year, is inspired by the childhood experiences of Symcare Directors, who spoke of coming to Australia as refugees. "We know how much a toy can really mean to some kids. I had to work for 2 years just to save up to get a bike. So, we understand the joy it brings. Being able to give back to multiple kids and just seeing the look on their faces – it brings us that same joy from our own childhood.”

Western Health CEO, Prof Russell Harrison said, "It’s been great to be able to join SymCare in handing out toys today. It makes their Christmas, and on top of that, our generous partner SymCare are also giving out Coles vouchers to families to help out at this time of year, which can be pretty challenging.”

A big thank you to Symcare for spreading holiday magic and making a difference! 🎄✨
