Maternity Services

Welcome to Western Health. We look forward to caring for you and your baby throughout your pregnancy journey. The Western Health Maternity team provides maternity care across two of our campuses;
 

  • Joan Kirner Women’s & Children’s Hospital
  • Bacchus Marsh Hospital

Western Health offers many services if you choose to have your baby with us. 

Our Maternity Service offers:
 

  • Pregnancy bookings
  • Options for pregnancy care including Midwifery Group Practice
  • Homebirth
  • Koori Maternity Service
  • Pregnancy care clinics
  • Antenatal education classes
  • Perinatal Mental Health Service
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine service
  • Maternity Assessment Centre for assessment and monitoring
  • Birth Suite, including water birth and birthing pools for pain relief in labour
  • On site staffing for theatre and epidurals
  • Maternity Inpatient Unit
  • Newborn Services with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • A Breastfeeding Support Service with dedicated lactation consultants
  • A Maternity at Home service to support you following discharge from hospital.

Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s is also a Baby Friendly Health Initiative accredited facility.

We work collaboratively across both sites to ensure you receive the most appropriate care closest to your location.
