General and endocrine surgery

The General and Endocrine Surgery (GES) Unit at Footscray Hospital is the largest endocrine surgery service in Melbourne’s west, offering comprehensive thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery. 

Endocrine surgery involves operations on hormone‑secreting glands such as the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. It often involves removing or repairing these glands to restore normal hormone function.

We manage thyroid nodules, goitres, Graves’ disease, hyperparathyroidism, adrenal tumours, salivary‑gland disease and provide diagnostic lymph‑node biopsies. 

Locations

Weekly outpatient clinic: Footscray Hospital 

Elective general surgery: Footscray & Williamstown hospital theatres. 

Ask your GP to refer you for an appointment in the outpatient clinic at Footscray Hopsital. Otherwise, you can see us in our private rooms, though please be aware this may attract a fee at some practices.
