Pathology billing information
We partner with Dorevitch Pathology to provide a range of diagnostic testing services at Western Health.
If you have a pathology test, such as a blood test or biopsy, you may receive an invoice from Dorevitch depending on the type of test and your healthcare cover.
Medicare rebate eligibility
Most pathology services at Western Health are included in the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), meaning you’ll be eligible for a rebate. If any of the pathology services provided are not included in the MBS, you will not receive a Medicare rebate.
Payment of invoices
If you’ve received an invoice, please see below for information on payment options.
- If you have private health insurance, submit your invoice to your fund for payment.
- If your visit to the hospital is a result of a workplace injury, you’ll need to submit your invoice to your employer or the WorkCover insurer handling your WorkCover expenses.
- If your visit to the hospital is a result of a transport accident, you’ll need to submit your invoice to the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) for payment.
- If you are a Medicare-ineligible patient (e.g. overseas visitor) and you do not have private health insurance, you will need to cover the costs yourself.
If your circumstances are not listed above, and you’ve received an invoice from Dorevitch, please email the following information to PatientPathologyInvoice@wh.org.au:
- your full name
- your date of birth
- your patient identification
- the invoice number
- the date of the invoice
- a scanned copy or photo of your invoice if possible.
