ECMO fundraising update: together we have done it!

04 Sep 2024

It is with great pleasure that we announce we have met our target of $350,000 to acquire two extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machines on site at Western Health.

Our wonderful supporters have made it possible for Western Health patients to gain access to this life-saving equipment on site. Thank you to all who participated in WalkWest, Golf Day and who gave so generously to our EOFY appeal. We couldn’t have raised these funds without their generosity.

We look forward to sharing more updates of the ECMO’s arrival (ETA Feb 2025)! But for now, some words from Ajay, a patient whose life was saved with the use of ECMO:

"I wish to thank everybody for your generosity and care. My family and I are delighted that ECMO machines will be available at Western Health."

Ajay

And from Intensive Care Senior Consultant at Western Health, Dr Yang Yang:

"I am so humbled by the generosity and support of our community. This is lifesaving equipment, and I am so happy that we will have access to it for our patients in the west. From my team in the ICU, thank you."

Dr Yang Yang
