The Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at Footscray Hospital is a 20-bed unit comprising 6 acute beds and 14 telemetry beds. The unit is located on the 2nd floor of the north block at Footscray Hospital. We provide care for patients with acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, valve disease, arrhythmias, and for those patients having undergone cardiac procedures such as angiogram/angioplasty and pacemaker insertion.

Admissions Patient Journey
All patients attending CCU are admitted through Emergency or the Cath Lab.
The patient will be met by a member of the nursing team who will monitor the patient from admission to discharge and make sure that they receive the right care during their stay at Western Health.
Nursing staff will talk with the patient about their medical condition to make sure that nothing has changed significantly since the patient’s last stay in hospital.
Visiting Hours
Visiting hours 10:00am to 2:00pm and 4:00pm to 8:00pm
No visitors between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. This is a rest period for all patients.
Discharge Process
Prior to discharge, patients will receive from the Discharge nurse their post-operative discharge information; follow up appointments and an education pamphlet. Once the patient is ready and a friend/relative has arrived they will then be discharged. All patients should be discharged by 10.00am.
