Western Health is a teaching hospital affiliated with University of Melbourne. As part of the Western Clinical School, the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery contributes to the structured teaching program and assists undergraduate students to immerse within the clinical environment.

The Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Western Health is also accredited by Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) as a teaching hospital. Every year, four trainee surgeons spend valuable time and gain clinical experience at Western Health as part of their training program
