Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre

The Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre is a 52-bed unit that provides mental health assessment, treatment and care for people who are experiencing mental ill-health. 

The Sunshine Acute Adult Psychiatric Unit (SAAPU) is temporarily closed.

All consumer admissions, transfers, and referrals will be through to the Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre. 

What we do

Multidisciplinary care is provided by our team of psychiatrists, allied health clinicians and nurses for diagnoses like schizophrenia, psychosis, bipolar and severe personality disorders, and severe depression or anxiety

People who are admitted are under the care of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022.

About the Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre:

The Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre is a direct result of the Royal Commission into Mental Health, marking a significant development in the provision of mental health and wellbeing services at Western Health and for our community.

The Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre is a multi-storey facility with two Mental Health Adult Acute Units, each comprising of 26 beds.

6 intensive care beds, referred to as Intensive Care Area (ICA)

6 medium care beds, referred to as Medium Care Area (MCA)

14 general care beds, referred to as General Care Area (GCA)
