At Western Health, we support your recovery both in hospital and at home. To ensure your safety and comfort after leaving hospital, you may be advised to use mobility and/or homecare equipment.

This equipment can make everyday tasks easier, such as:

  • having a shower or bath
  • using the toilet
  • walking or moving around
  • getting dressed
  • getting in and out of bed.

How to access equipment

Before you hire or buy equipment, you will need to be assessed by an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. You should do this either when you’re in hospital or within 4 weeks of leaving hospital.

Once you’ve been assessed, the therapist will talk with you and your family about what equipment you need. They will give you a form to take when collecting your equipment.
